The third round of the blind auditions on The Voice UK drew to an emotional close on Saturday evening thanks to hopeful Irene Alano-Rhodes.
Capturing the hearts of the judges and viewers, the 42-year-old performed an emotional rendition of (Hero) Wind Beneath My Wings.
The singer's stunning vocals saw her win over both Will.i.am and Ricky Wilson after she shared her story of fighting through heartbreak.
Ahead of her performance, Irene, who is originally from the Philippines, told of how she came to London to join the musical Miss Saigon.
While featuring in the production, she met a man named Lee and they fell in love, got married and had a son.
But in 2009 just two weeks after her father passed away from lung cancer, her husband also died.
'When Lee passed away, the first thing I said to myself was 'I'm never going to sing again', because singing would mean you would have emotions, you would feel, you know when you singe you have to feel the song, and I thought, 'Well I'm not going to sing ever again'.'
But persevering, Irene continued: 'It was a horrible time, but I guess it also taught me a lot of things in life - strength, faith, courage, hope; there is always hope.'
As her pitch perfect set, which she dedicated to her son, came to a close, Will.i.am was first to hit the red button and spin around quickly followed by Ricky.
When the cheers from the audience started to die down, Wilson commented: 'That was simply wonderful. You really got the sentiment of the song across. I loved it.'
Then in attempt to get her on side both judges serenaded her with praise while Will.i.am didn't hold back on name-dropping and mentioned the fact his bestfriend apl.de.ap is also from the Philippines.
Trying to get Irene in his camp, Will.i.am explained: 'I turned around because you have an amazing voice, you took it there, you peaked.
'The peak was okay and then towards the end I was like 'Well if she continues to fight but I don't she's going to fight because she already pushed', and then you fought more.'
The rapper and producer added: 'You didn't just give up and I like a fighter. It's like you controlled my hand and pushed my button.'
Agreeing with Will.i.am's comments, Ricky asserted: 'It was one of those voices that reached over the chairs into our hearts and made our hands do the button thing.
'I guarantee you that happened not just for us, but it went down the lens, out of everyone's TVs to their sofas and I think there would have been a national standing ovation.'
Ricky also called Irene's voice 'truly exceptional' but lost out to the Feelin' Myself hitmaker after he said to the mother-of-one: 'I would like you to be on my team to officially be a part of our family.'
